Are you testing AI-generated features? You should probably check to see if this buried option is turned on…
Find It
From the All Tools menu, go to Advertising Settings and click on Advantage+ Creative.
If you have only one option, it’s probably to Test New Creative Enhancements. If you have two, the second is likely Test AI-Generated Features.
Because of the way this is set up, I’m guessing that there will eventually be multiple types of AI-generated features to test. For now, it’s only “Test Text Extraction Optimization.”
What Is It?
Here’s how Meta defines it:
Keywords and phrases taken from your original text can be displayed on or around your ad creative as text overlays, footers, prominent headlines and more. Ad previews featuring generated text will not be available before the ads are published.
So, AI will select keywords and phrases from your original text (not sure how it will determine that) and display it on your ad creative. Meta may show fewer than 5% of ad impressions with these optimizations.
Should You Turn It On?
It’s possible that this could be helpful, but there’s one problem. The fine print says that you’ll never know when it’s used or what it looks like. You won’t be able to preview what this enhancement looks like before it goes live.
If you demand brand control or have a sensitive client, you may want to turn this off. The Image Template enhancement is an example of an optimization that many advertisers turn off for this reason.
If you have a spirit for adventure, feel free to turn it on. I have it turned on, and I’ll leave it that way unless I see a good reason to turn it off.
How about you?
