The Messaging Events API is going away.
What does it mean? What should you do? Let’s investigate…
The Announcement
In Meta’s latest Graph and Marketing API announcement, there was the following under deprecations.
You can find the announcement here.
In it, Meta says that the Messaging Events API will be deprecated in September 2025. If you are passing conversion events to Meta from Messenger conversations, this applies to you.
Offline Events
This is consistent with what we’re also seeing with the Offline Events API, which is expected to be deprecated in May of 2025.
The main takeaway here is that you’ll still be able to send Messaging and Offline events. But instead of having three different APIs, we’ll need to send all events via the main Conversions API.
It makes a lot of sense. But if you’re using these secondary APIs, you’ll need to make changes sooner rather than later. Otherwise, there will come a day when your events stop sending.
Are you passing events using the Messaging Events API?
