An important deadline just passed for Facebook and Instagram Shops in the US only…
Timeline
We’ve known that this would happen since last year. Here’s the timeline:
August 10, 2023: You could no longer create a Shop in the US without enabling checkout with Facebook or Instagram. Any Shop you created before that date could still send people to a checkout on your website.
April 24, 2024: Shops without Checkout with Facebook or Instagram enabled are no longer accessible.
How to Enable Checkout
To enable Checkout with Facebook or Instagram, you’ll need to go to your Commerce Manager.
You should immediately see a big pop-over message that takes over your screen to “Update your checkout to make your shop available to buyers.”
Click the Update Checkout button and you’ll be taken through several steps:
Overview…
Shipping and returns…
Business type…
Business address…
Business category…
And Bank account…
Not overly complicated, but you’ll need to decide if you still want your Shop to work. If you do and you’re in the US, this needs to be set up.
