Phone Verification Requirement for New Advertisers

If you create a new ad account, expect to jump through some new hoops.

Let’s discuss…

Phone Verification

There’s a new update in Ads Manager for October titled “Phone verification requirement for new advertisers.”

Phone Verification for New Advertisers

It reads the following:

If you’re a new advertiser or have created a new ad account, you now need to verify a phone number before you can run ads and boost posts.

Meta says that you can do this on your Account Overview page, which can be found in the All Tools menu.

Account Overview

But if you don’t, you’ll be required to verify once you attempt to publish an ad. Meta will then send you a confirmation code via phone call or text message.

It Makes Sense

Probably not a surprising requirement as we head up to the elections in the US. This is a tighter control during a time when Meta will be battling with ad rejections and bad actors. While you can easily create new email addresses to evade Meta, phone numbers are trickier.

Have you run into this requirement?
