Expand ad images with AI. Here’s how to join the test…
Where to Find It
Go to your Advertising Settings. Then click the box for Advantage+ Creative.

If you’re one of the lucky ones, you have a section for Test New AI Generation Features. If you opt in, fewer than five% of ad impressions will be dedicated to these tests.

I’ve covered Text Extraction and Expand Video in the past. Meta keeps adding options to this. Now there’s Image Expansion, too. It appears this started on September 25th.
Click “Edit Tests.”
How it Works
If you have Image Expansion, it will be at the top.

Here’s how Meta defines it:
Eligible images will automatically be expanded with AI to fit different aspect ratios so they can look more natural across different ad placements.
The example that Meta provides takes a landscape image, zooms in, and generates a top and bottom with AI.
Now, I knew that I saw Image Expansion as part of the main Advantage+ Creative enhancements, but I’m not seeing it there now. It appears that Meta has moved it to tests only for the time being.
Considering all AI-generation tests related to Advantage+ Creative won’t account for more than 5% of impressions, there’s minimal risk here. But that risk could be different from brand to brand.
