What is Core Setup?

Within Events Manager Data Sources, you may see a new section under the Settings tab for Data Restrictions and Core Setup.

Data Restrictions Core Setup

If this is turned on (and you may not have a choice), it could significantly restrict the data that is passed with your URLs.

Here are the details…

What It Is

The description from Meta reads:

When turned on, Meta Business Tools may restrict data such as custom parameters and parts of URLs after the domain.

Meta may turn on data restrictions if your app or website is in a sensitive industry like banking, lending, financial services, insurance, pharmaceuticals, or healthcare. Data sharing is under more scrutiny in those cases.

You may also get put into Core Setup if you’ve received multiple warnings about sharing data that goes against Meta’s terms.

You can otherwise manually put your pixel into Core Setup.

Regardless of the reason for initiating Core Setup, it could impact your custom audiences, Events Manager data, Automatic Advanced Matching, and more.

Should You Turn This On?

This is a decision you need to make with your legal and privacy representatives. If you have the option (and you may not), you’d likely do this as a last resort if you’re in a sensitive industry and are worried about sending data you shouldn’t.
