I like to share my small wins and successes with you to provide some insight on how I do with the advice that I provide. Today I reached a fun little milestone: 500,000 pageviews in under 10 months.

JonLoomer.com was first published on August 29, 2011, and I received a grand total of five pageviews on that day. This was admittedly a website without a focus or much of a direction. I knew that it needed to be created, but my strategy had not yet come together.
Since then, it’s been a roller coaster of huge highs (25,000 pageviews over a two day period) and frustrating lows (less than 4,000 pageviews total in October and November). Since March, however, I’ve found a very steady, happy medium that has led to great success.
Now that my website’s performance is consistent, the milestones are rolling in. May was also the first time that I had received more than 100,000 pageviews in a given month, and I am tracking to repeat that in June. At my current pace, I’ll hit my next 500,000 pageviews (1 Million!) in about four months.
Am I an SEO expert? I don’t list that on my business card, but I guess I practice Search Engine OptimizationHow you optimize impacts who sees your Facebook ad. Facebook will show your ad to people most likely to perform your desired action. More best practices. What I do is publish a lot of fresh content that I know readers want, answering the questions that they are asking. Not only do readers love it, but search engines do, too.
Of course, it’s not all about getting the traffic. It’s about what you do with the traffic when it gets to your website. I’m working on that as well!
I’ll continue sharing successes like this one, but I will also share my struggles. I am an open book. I hope you’ll do the same!
